Research and development

Research areas

GEMAC has several R&D projects focusing on the areas of :

  • neurosciences: development of antibodies for a better understanding of neuropathologies.
  • immunology: identification of biomarkers specific to autoimmune or degenerative pathologies.
These studies are performed in collaboration with well known clinicians worldwide.

New diseases targets
Based on the same technology as GEM-RR, GEM-SP and GEM-ALS, other preclinical studies will be launched on various neurological and auto-immune diseases.

Development of idiotypic and anti-idiotypics antibodies
GEMAC is expert in the development of idiotypic antibodies (antibodies of first generation) but also in the development of anti-idiotypic antibodies (antibodies of second generation).

Major applications of the anti-idiotypic antibodies are:

  • immunoanalysis (when the ligand is very difficult to handle).
  • therapeutic field. An anti-idiotypic antibody acts like a vaccine (if the causal factor is bacterial, viral, ...) or like an analogue, standing for the toxic ligand.
