Story

GEMAC was created in 2001 with products and expertise of a university team. The first antibodies developed in the 1980s, were polyclonal antibodies directed against the neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, acetylcholine ...  They have been extensively used for the detection and localization of these molecules in the nervous systems of invertebrates and vertebrates. A great number of worldwide works were done with these powerful tools.

In the 1990s, the first monoclonal antibody directed against dopamine was raised. Since 1992, a large number of antibodies directed against by-products of lipoperoxidation, compounds of the endogenous metabolism, nitric oxide compounds and lipids were developed. At the same time, the first anti-idiotypic antibodies, internal images of neurotransmitters were obtained. More, the methodology of small molecule linkages to protein carriers, and the immunisation design were adapted to drugs, pollutants….

Since the creation of GEMAC, the team became a leader in the field of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies to small molecules.
Year after year, Gemac has expanded its range in the growing fields of interest, such as drugs, pollutants, plants ... and today our antibodies are used as reagents for the realisation of research works in immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, immuno-purification.

New, some of them have powerful pharmacological activities, opening new avenues in the field of therapies of chronic diseases.
